Copy Editor

Lynda is a reader. We don't mean a casual pick up a book and read it by the pool on weekends type reader - we mean a book a day. She's a sponge for books and information! To top it off, she's the best crossword puzzle player west of the Mississippi! Her Insane attention to detail and keen eye help keep our content free of too many commas and run-on sentences. While she claims to not be perfect, she's certainly better than any grammar checker you can get online! She loves finding errors that we (regularly) make and pointing them out with a smile.

Our Perspective On Modern Design

Built by people who have a passion for beautiful things in life

Being experienced retail store owners and product buyers for over 15 years, all too often the term “Modern” was used  and almost never in the correct context. For this reason, we decided to put together a brief introduction on what modern means and our perspective on the word modern as well as how it applies to this online publication “Best Of Modern Design”

Most importantly, when we refer to “Modern” in our name, it does not mean era-specific design styles (typically from the late 1920s to 1950s). We want to be sure to not get hate mail from architects and designers who are devoted to the modern period! 🙂 So rather, when we refer to Modern Design, it’s simply current and relevant design ideas, concepts and products. Of course we love the modern era architecture and interior design elements so there will surely be plenty of attention to that. For that matter we love vintage as well, especially when integrated into contemporary design!

Expect to see anything clean, contemporary, modern, retro or vintage throughout our publication. Bottom line is – we love good design regardless if it’s an interior of a restaurant or a fine piece of furniture. We also love beautifully designed websites, textiles, color schemes, cars and even jewelry!

We expect and hope there are plenty of like minded people out there that will appreciate our passion for new product finds and will enjoy a broad range of unique articles that stem from our travels and individual experiences.

In closing, what we believe will separate us from very niche design and style blogs is that we don’t merely sit behind a computer and scour the internet for things that are published by other people. We actually visit trade events, manufacturers, design studios and galleries for our inspiration with the belief that we will be able to find even more unique ideas from designers and artisans who may not receive the large media coverage that companies like Herman Miller, Vitra, or Alessi would.

Do you have something to contribute? An idea, product, project or lifestyle experience that fits with our format – please, let us know! Contact us any time!

Sincerely,
